Release étude / machine vision poetics

Magritte's

A studio where video is not edited, but interrogated until it begins to confess its image.

after Modigliani

When I know your soul,
I will paint your eyes.

Observation I

The portrait enters as painting.

Fur, snow, cheek, eyelid. The old surface remains intact. Magritte's begins by refusing to replace beauty with instrumentation.

Observation II

The machine begins to draw.

Contours gather at the face. Confidence flickers over the eye. A label arrives, correct and insufficient.

Observation III

The label fails beautifully.

It names the organ. Then the apparatus hesitates, magnifies, and calls the same evidence by another name.
